TURTLENECK (LIVE FROM CROSSROADS) 7/17/24

Zephyr’s home base is set in Vineland, NJ. Currently comprised of Connor McBride, Trey Luciano, Tyler Kimmel, and Gabe “Ra” Novas. The band has undergone various iterations since its genesis in late 2017 but has always held true to its alternative rock ’n’ roll roots. With the band having formed in its member’s late high school days, life for these young aspiring musicians couldn’t help but get in the way - resulting in several undetermined hiatus’ between projects and live performances.

In August 2019 - Zephyr released their debut EP titled “The Basement”. A raw, powerful, and emotional project where they merely tap the surface of their talents and collective abilities as a band. Kicking things off with a bang, Zephyr’s “By My Side” and “Back To Life” are two tracks expressing the band’s grunge and punk rock influences. The boys begin to tap into their experimental and psychedelic side with “Paper Lanterns”. Concluding the EP with tracks like “Artillery” and “Hellfire”, Zephyr showcases its unique songwriting abilities in its chord structure, heartfelt lyricism, and grand instrumentation.

On January 2nd, 2021 - Zephyr starts off the new year with the unexpected by releasing their sophomore EP “Upstairs”. The band moves in a drastically different direction from their previous works showing how much they’ve evolved creatively and in sound quality. Drawing from their new-found hip hop, electronic, and psychedelic influences - Zephyr is an entirely new band. In songs such as “To Be Free”, “Turtleneck”, and “Her Majesty” the band significantly make use of hip-hop-influenced drumbeats and rhythmic changes as well as punchy organs and atmospheric synthesizers - accentuated all the while by imaginative and thought-provoking lyrics.

As of April 2023 - Zephyr has released their single “Let It Wash”, offering a fresh blend of all their previous influences as well as incorporating some new ones. The track infuses dynamic jazz-style drumming with airy synth pads and dramatic vocals. The band releases this track in anticipation of their biggest project yet - Zephyr: Live Outside.

By early June 2023 - Zephyr finally gets back together after a year of planning their first live performance in over four years. The band spent over a week together to rehearse for the longest set that they’ve ever played with the goal of recording the performance to be released as a live album. Simultaneously, the band brings on friend and filmmaker, Tanner Bushman, to shoot Zephyr’s latest endeavors as a documentary. As the band is in the process of mixing their live album and editing their documentary, they continue to write and record new material. Zephyr’s journey has only just begun.

Around Mid 2024 - Zephyr were all fully enthralled in rehearsals, writing sessions, shows,And lots of long nights in the studio. After a triumphant show in early August the band quietly slipped back into the studio to finish their upcoming  EP…
